*Author's Note: Another poem has been requested by Noble House, London for publication in an anthology "Favourite Memories", scheduled for release in Spring 2009. The title gave me the inspiration to come up with yet another 'grandkid' memory that was positive in every aspect...
The Best Day Ever!
I celebrated my birthday this year
In a pleasingly different way;
I took my grandchildren up a mountain
To go fishing for trout that day.
I taught them how to cast,
Along with rigging their bait;
The trout were biting hard and fast,
So they seldom had long to wait.
Fresh air and sun gave a healthy glow
To our summertime endeavor;
What joy to hear my grandson exclaim,
"Wow! This was the BEST day, EVER!!"
